ago I played 1 quite a bit, didnt beat it. That doesn't make D:OS1 bad, mind you (it's quite good, actually), but D:OS2 is a lot more accessible. In fact, I'd say most D:OS2 players probably haven't played D:OS1. It could be played out of order, though does contain a summary of the events of Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity (though primarily the events between the 2 games, described in the Beyond Divinity prequel novella). No, they are barely related story-wise, and D:OS2 does a pretty good job of explaining everything that is going on.
Lots of people actually started with Divinity 2 after it was released, actually, if the earlier 2 are too 'dusty' for you. Can't be Serious Mcgrumpypants all the time, but can they at least take their main story a bit more seriously? It's fun, but it gets very old after a while. When the drama came in with the big bad, the inability to implement it properly showed in the writing and they didn't even manage to make it seem serious with all the humor in it. Larian's lore is self explanatory and the games are set a thousand years apart. The good news is that a lot of early decisions can be taken backyou'll have. Outside of names which you'll recognize if you played Ego Draconis or any Divinity game and the vaaague fact in Original Sin you play as witch hunters while in Original Sin 2 you play as the witches. The light narrative involving finding out who you, the star stones and the other things was a perfect fit for a not-too-serious game like OS. Comments Divinity: Original Sin 2's complexity can be daunting at first, and not everything is explained in detail. I loved the interactivity and sheer amount of possibilities in Original Sin combat, but eventually stopped playing due to 1) pacing issues, which caused me to lose motivation since I have other things I could be doing in my spare time 2) The fact they can't decide whether they should take their own plot seriously or not.
